SUPREME

Supreme New York was founded in 1994 by James Jebbia.  James Jebbia was born in America but lived in the UK since he was 1 and moved back to America when he was 19, he was in the BBC show Grange Hill. Jebbia opened Union NYC in 1989 and helped open Stussy NYC in 1991 and was the manager of the Stussy Store, he was still working in the Stussy store while running Supreme for a while. It cost Jebbia $12K to open the Supreme store in 1994. If you have been to the any of the Supreme stores then you will notice the middle is rather empty, this is because Jebbia wanted skaters to come straight in with their skateboards. Gio Estevez was the first ever employee at Supreme.  Supreme work with many artiest such as Daniel Johnston and Damien Hirst, but the first ever artiest to ever work with Supreme was Rammellzee. Supreme have been involved in a lot of legal trouble before, for example Calvin Klein filed a suit against Supreme for using there Kate Moss image and Supreme have had trouble with Louis Vuitton for using there monogram pattern. James Jebbia doesn’t own the name Supreme as he can’t trademark it. If your into Supreme like me then you know how hard it is to get some items of their clothing, there clothes can sell out in 10 seconds on their website, many people camp outside the shop prior the release to make sure they get the garment they want. Many Supreme items go up in price due to being hard to get, Supreme released a box logo t-shirt with a Louis Vuitton inspired pattern on, within 2 weeks Louis Vuitton wanted Supreme to stop selling the item,  the t-shirt retailed ay £38 but can now sell for £200 due to many of them being out there. James Jebbia once said ‘Supreme puts out will ever be classified as "limited," but notes that they make short runs because they don't want to get stuck with stuff nobody wants. The only way to get Supreme items was from the store until the end of 2013 when they opened a web store. James Jebbia is now worth a estimated a whopping $40million!
